Hello CRF maniacs!

Hello CRF maniacs!

SCROLL

A few months before CRF 2011 next August, we are in the uncomfortable position to bring to your attention a series of unfortunate events linked with last year’s fest.

Awkwardly all of these events refer to one person…

His name is Thorsten Velbinger (Velbyproductions Ltd) and at the time of CRF 2010 he acted as tour manager & sound engineer of W.A.S.P.

This gentleman single-handedly increased the cost of the production significantly by asking for extra services that were never mentioned in any contract we ever signed with the band’s agency and by making ridiculous mistakes in the band’s travel schedule. In fact, coming to Crete 2 days before the show he threatened us directly that he would not let the band perform unless we met his new demands simply because the agent that signed the contracts with us had been laid off. Just like that! During his whole stay he was irritating and arrogant.

It came as no surprise that he intervened at the fest?s schedule by not allowing us to play a video dedicated to Ronnie James Dio.

Unfortunately we hadn’t seen the last of mr “Velby” – as he is better known in the music business…

After the show he departed from Crete without paying for the extra days of stay of the travel party as agreed. In the following days we contacted him and complained about that and he committed to solve the problem. 9 months later the invoices are still pending…

Last but not least, let’s not forget his tragic sound engineering deeds that threatened to deafen everyone that came to the show.

Chania Rock Festival and colleagues will never again work with bands that associate with mr Throsten Velbinger as he is the most unprofessional lad we ever dealt with. Even if our Club is a fan based organisation; we still operate in a more professional and efficient manner than he does.

Our Festival is running all these years powered by the love of the fans and we will never succumb to any kind of blackmail or provocation. We feel it is our responsibility to bring our experience to everyone’s attention, not as promoters but as fans of the music and the bands.
